Chemonics is recruiting an Office and Transportation Assistant, to be based in Tete and Quelimane, Mozambique.
Description
- Project: Global Health Supply Chain - Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) Mozambique
- The overall goal of GHSC-PSM is to procure and provide health commodities for all USAID health programs, including but not limited to, HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Family Planning, and Maternal & Child Health, as well as provide systems strengthening technical assistance to improve supply chain management and commodity security in Mozambique
- The Office and Transportation Assistant will ensure the most effective logistics and transportation for the Project in compliance with USAID policies and regulations
- Supervision: The Office and Transportation Assistant will report directly to the Provincial Advisor
Duties
- Vehicle driving and maintenance:
- Drive assigned project vehicle daily, including on scheduled project-related trips
- Maintain cleanliness of car
- Check assigned vehicle weekly to ensure that it is operational and safe to drive, and check the project vehicle’s oil, radiator, fan belt, brake fluid, wipers, tires, lights, and signals
- Initiate and supervise any repairs required on assigned vehicles with supervisor's approval
- Fulfill project-reporting requirements and maintain records on vehicle routing, condition, etc.
- Contribute to passenger safety by obeying traffic laws, driving carefully, and requesting that each person in the vehicle wears a seatbelt
- Logistics and administration:
- Assist with procurements, collecting and evaluating offers, and contacting vendors
- Assist with logistics in regards to training events including identifying and setting up the venue, assisting with production of training materials, and transporting necessary equipment and people to the venue
- Assist with daily project operations, as needed, in regards to office maintenance and repairs and provision of office supplies
- Ensure that the office is organized to run efficiently and that office equipment and supplies are ordered on time and properly maintained
- Perform other tasks as directed by Provincial Advisor
- Maintain a good knowledge and understanding of all office rules and procedures as set forth in the field office policy manual
- Support achievement of the overall project goals as required to ensure project performance
Requisites
- At least 2 years of experience driving for USAID projects, or other international organizations
- Valid driver’s license required
- Knowledge of roads in relevant area of Mozambique required
- Fluency in Portuguese and functional English is required
