Twigg Exploration & Mining is recruiting a Payroll Supervisor, to be based in Pemba, Mozambique.
Duties
- Manage and guarantee expat and local payrolls are run timeously with monthly disbursements and interim calculations when required
- Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports from payroll officer
- Review time and attendance data as provided by HR and efficiency of data collection
- Ensure the processing of new hires, temporary workers, transfers, change of conditions and terminations are accurate and timely
- Verify the legitimacy of all new hires
- Critically review and analyse current payroll, benefits and tax procedures in order to recommend and implement changes leading to best-practice operations
- Communicate actively with Operations, HR and AP to review cross-departmental data sharing
- Ensure systems are set-up and updated to reflect our current employee base, including wages, benefits, sick and annual leave in line with contracts (union and non-union)
- Manage regular preparation of relevant management reports, including weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, annual leave accrual, tax deductions, medical insurance, union participation etc.)
- Maintain employee data ensuring it is kept current
- Supervise payroll staff, train, mentor and develop
- Ensure total compliance to process and ERP system
- Ensure payroll is run with compliance to statutory/legislated requirements
- Review and improve payroll policies and procedures
Requisites
- Degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Management or other relevant subjects
- 05 minimum managing payroll in excess of 500 persons
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong ethics and approach to confidential and sensitive information
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in Portuguese and English
- Exceptional ability to build and maintain credible work relationships
- Sound computer proficiency and experience across Microsoft Office (strongly in Excel)
- Able to work with ERP Financial Software (PRONTO)
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles
- Knowledge and interpretation of local labour law
