GAIN is recruiting a Project Associate – Marketplace for Nutritious Foods, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Description
- The Project Associate - Marketplace for Nutritious Foods will support the implementation of the Marketplace for Nutritious Foods in Mozambique. The position is for an initial period of one year, but with the potential to be extended by an additional year, based on performance and the availability of funding
Duties
- To support the Marketplace manager with managing grantees portfolio including preparation of disbursement process and
liaison with GAIN finance department
- Following up with grantees in relation to achievement against set milestones and reporting against these as per GAIN set
standards
- Support the Marketplace manager with E-contracting tool processes including initiation of contracts, follow-up with
contracting parties and respective contract approvers, signing of contracts and uploading all other necessary documents to
Share point, in liaison with legal team
- Ensure updated information on PMIS in relation to grantee disbursements
- Support the Marketplace manager with follow up of environmental monitoring and mitigation plans developed with the
grantees and reporting against these
- Conduct regular visits to grantee working locations to verify actual status
- Support the marketplace manager with monthly data collection from grantees that would feed into the Marketplace
defined M&E indicators
- Liaise with project manager to give adequate support to all external support contracted by Marketplace for all services,
including ensuring all needed resources are availed on time
- Liaise with communication officer to organize Community of Practice events, including support for logistic preparations and
preparation of payments to service providers
- Actively exchange knowledge and experience with the other project officers in the other Marketplace countries
- Actively contribute to knowledge management in the Mozambique team as well as the whole of GAIN
- Support the PM to oversee communications on Innovation Accelerator, where applicable. For example: Announcement of
call for proposals, communications with candidates, etc
- Other tasks related to the implementation of the Marketplace as required by the GAIN Mozambique Marketplace manager
- Reports to Project Manager, Marketplace for Nutritious Foods, Mozambique
- Regular contact with other GAIN Mozambique and GAIN global employees
- Regular engagement with Marketplace grantees, Community of Practice members, Project consultants and
contractors
Requisites
- Highly organized and good at multi-tasking
- Have the capacity to solve problems quickly
- Financial experience preferably at non-governmental organizations
- A good understanding of the agribusiness landscape in Mozambique
- Excellent networking skills
- Proactive with a commitment to quality and accuracy with close attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- High flexibility and occasional availability to work outside regular working hours
- Able to prioritize and work well under pressure with frequent deadlines
- Ability to work without close supervision
- Computer literacy with excellent MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint skills
- Solid experience in a similar post and exposure in a grantee management support role including contracting experience is highly desirable
- Experience in finance or business management, office management, documentation
- Experience in working with different stakeholders from business, government, donors, etc
- Experience in working in an international environment is a plus
- Degree or diploma in finance or business management/economics/ social development studies or related fields and/or equivalent work experience
- Willingness and ability to travel occasionally in country
- The applicant should be a Mozambican national or have the right to work in Mozambique
- Proficiency in Portuguese and English
