- Aga Khan Education Service, Mozambique is looking for a well experienced and capable individual to join the high energy high impact Aga Khan Academy Maputo (AKA Maputo) Construction Project Team as a ‘Project Finance and Logistics Officer’ on a two years contract, which can be extended by mutual consent for a mutually agreed time period
- The Project Finance and Logistics Officer shall report to the Client Representative for the Aga Khan Academy Maputo Construction Project and be responsible for the following major tasks in addition to other tasks to be assigned from time to time

Duties
Logistics and Commercial Responsibilities
- Track and monitor the process of recouping VAT, excise and import duties on the Aga Khan Academy Maputo construction project
- Coordinate with the AKDN Rep Office in Maputo and Aga Khan Academy Maputo Head of Finance and Operations to process necessary permissions, approvals and clearances to ensure duty exemptions are fully availed on all materials and equipment for the project; this may also involve interaction with customs and port authorities
- Process all required paperwork and follow up on obtaining permits and approvals for utilities (electricity, gas, water, telephone etc.)
- Ensure effective coordination on import clearances and approvals related matters
- Liaise with and facilitate the work of customs clearing agents
- Keep records related to above activities in an organized and professional manner
Finance Related Responsibilities
- Prepare Payment Certificates and seek approval as per laid down procedures. Ensure all payments are tracked and released in a timely and efficient manner
- Prepare monthly capital expenditures report and funding requests for Head Office in consultation with Maputo Project Client Representative
- Liaise with local Academy finance team on project related financial matters
- Keep track of project related local and international payments, construction contracts, purchase orders, invoices and payment certificates
- Prepare payment trackers and analysis of accounts payable and produce weekly reports for Client Representative
- Regularly report on budget/cost matters to the Client Representative in Maputo and Head, Construction and Commercial in Geneva
- Ensure the safekeeping of financial, contractual, other legal documents and records
- Undertake such other related duties as may be designated by the Client Representative or the Head, Construction and Commercial
Requisites
- The incumbent must have:
- A degree in Business, Finance or Accounting or a comparable professional qualification with a minimum of 7 years of experience, of which 3 years must be in similar position
- Experience in a project setting and working with the government ministries and Customs Department
- Good oral and written English and Portuguese communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a small team
A strong work ethic, with attention to details while retaining a flexible approach to problem solving
- Highly organised, resilient, able to set priorities and keep to deadlines
- A high level of integrity to handle fiscal responsibilities and confidential information
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interact with wide range of stakeholders and a proven track record of building and sustaining relationships
