FHI360 is hiring a Project Manager for Maputo.
Duties
- Provide technical assistance in the areas of nutrition assessment, counseling and support (NACS) in the context of infectious disease, infant and young child nutrition (IYCN), prevention of mother to child transmission (PMTCT), quality improvement and assurance, prevention of undernutrition, food security, and nutrition and agriculture
- Support the coordination of national-level initiatives
- Develop and/or review technical resource materials including policies, strategies, guidelines, training manuals, curricula, and job aids
- Develop reports, concept notes, work plans and other materials to support the design and implementation of nutrition programs
- Plan, facilitate, and supervise trainings
- Support the establishment of M&E systems and tools
- Support quality improvement and quality assurance systems and tools
- Support the design and implementation of USG-programs
- Provide technical assistance to the MOH in strategic planning, coordination, and oversight of nutrition and food security activities. Participate in and facilitate national-level technical working groups as requested
- Review and refine materials produced by consultants and other FANTA staff
- Coordinate closely with the FANTA Nutrition and Infectious Diseases, CMAM and Emergency Nutrition, and MCHN clusters on technical activities
- Serve as the FANTA point person for interactions with USAID/Mozambique, the MOH, the GRM, and implementing partners
- Work with USAID/Mozambique, the MOH, and other FANTA staff to identify and plan activities
- Share developments and experiences with FANTA HQ through weekly reports and other periodic updates
- Provide periodic updates to USAID/Mozambique and complete USAID and PEPFAR reporting requirements
- Develop annual work plans and budgets
- Contribute to FANTA project-wide work planning and reporting
- Identify, hire, and manage consultants/consulting firms: develop scopes of work, liaise with the CO and FANTA HQ as needed on procurement and contracting, oversee consultants’ work, review and ensure high-quality deliverables
- Coordinate with the FANTA HQ financial and administrative teams for planning and management of activities
- Coordinate with the FHI 360 country office and the FHI 360 South Africa Regional Office (SARO) and the East and Southern Africa Business Unit (ESABU) on technical and management activities as appropriate
- Be responsible for financial transactions and monitor spending against established budgets
- Participate in FANTA HQ activities such as staff meetings, retreats, and technical update sessions
- Carry out other activities relevant to the program as required
- Supervise up to 20 technical and administrative staff
- Equipment to be utilized: computer, telephone, printer, photocopier, scanner
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
Requisites
- Advanced degree (MS, MPH, MD, or PhD) in nutrition, medicine, or related public health discipline
- Master’s degree preferred with minimum of 8 years of experience in nutrition, maternal and child health, food security and/or HIV programs, including technical assistance, program design and management, research, and/or policy development and analysis
- Experience working in developing countries is required
- Experience with health and nutrition activities in Mozambique is required
- Experience with USAID-funded projects and programs is strongly desired
- Experience with PEPFAR-funded projects and programs is desired
- Experience working closely with Ministries of Health and government health systems is required
- Experience in overseeing technical activities such as training programs and guideline development is strongly desired
- Experience in financial and administrative management of project activities is strongly desired
- Excellent English writing skills
- Strong oral presentation skills
- Strong training skills in technical topics for trainers and service providers
- Ability to facilitate multi-stakeholder processes and effectively implement activities within bureaucratic government systems
- Ability to develop innovative solutions to complex programming situations in a proactive manner
- Excellent interpersonal, oral communication, managerial, and organizational skills
- Self-initiating and able to work independently
- Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Ability to mentor and supervise staff
- Fluency in Portuguese and English required
