iDE Moçambique

iDE is recruiting a Project Manager, to be based in Nampula.

Under LASTMILE, iDE, Lusosem, and HUB will build the capacity of 40 agro-dealers and establish 200 commercially-oriented farm business advisors (ADAs) to provide extension services and access to agriculture inputs for smallholder farmers. LASTMILE will leverage the private sector to increase access to agricultural inputs, technical advice, credit and output markets for 10,000 smallholder farmers in Nampula and Zambezia Provinces in Mozambique.

Duties
  • The project manager serves as the day to day manager of the LASTMILE project while keeping both the iDE Country Director and Center-North Programs Director informed of all project activities and Coordinate Technical and Trading issues with Lusosem
  • The project manager is responsible for the compilation and quality control review of all project reports. The project manager will liaise closely with headquarters staff to ensure timely submission of all contract milestones
  • Serve as project manager for LASTMILE
  • Responsible for timely submission of all project milestones
  • In coordination with the Country Director and Director of Lusosem, identify and select field staff; and identify field office
  • Lead the project’s technical direction and provide management oversight with frequent reporting to the iDE Country Director and Center-North Programs Director
  • Ensure the project is implemented within the agreed timeline and the allocated budget and liaise closely with the iDE Finance team on all billing issues
  • Coordinate work with partners Lusosem and HUB
  • Represent LASTMILE with the iDE Country Director in key meetings with donors, government officials, and partners
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the other Feed the Future-funded projects
  • Supervise the financial management, human resources and project materials relating to LASTMILE
  • Lead report-writing (milestones) as required for compliance with the requirements of LASTMILE contract
  • Establish clear ownership for project tasks, ensure that team members have the tools need, and provide timely feedback
  • Coordinate and facilitate delivery of the project objectives
  • Track progress and review project tasks to make certain all deadline are met
  • Proactively communicate project status, issues and risk to iDE Mozambique management and iDE Headquarters management
  • Follow USAID/Fintrac policies, procedures and methodologies
  • Conduct regular status meetings with all stakeholders keeping the stakeholders need and requirements continuously in view of the project
  • All other duties as assigned he project manager is responsible for supervising the following LASTMILE employees in carrying out work under LASTMILE: LASTMILE Supervisors, Admin-Financial Assistant, Project Operations Assistant and FBA training coordinator and liaise with Lusosem and HUB Project Coordinators
  • The project manager reports directly to iDE’s Country Director
  • The project manager will also liaise directly with iDE Headquarters staff members who are managing the LASTMILE contract and LUSOSEM managers about technical and commercial issues
Requisites
  • The post holder must have a degree in agric-economics/ social science, development or other related field, or equivalent standard of education in addition to five years’ experience in the relevant field, including preference for private sector agribusiness experience
  • Considerable ability to develop and interpret technical procedures to project team and other personnel
  • Considerable ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with project team and reporting channel
  • Considerable problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required to train / coach staff and give occasional presentations
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Strong business analysis skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills required to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent IT skills, including “Microsoft office”, “excel”, “Power-Point” and “word” abilities
  • Fluent English
  • Mozambican Nationality Required
  • Preference for residence in Nampula
