GAIN is recruiting a Project Manager – Marketplace for Nutritious Foods, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Description
- The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is driven by the vision of a world without malnutrition. GAIN is a Swiss based international organization that mobilizes public-private partnerships and provides financial and technical support to deliver nutritious foods to those people most at risk of malnutrition. The organization is delivering improved nutrition to an estimated 700 million people in more than 30 countries, half of whom are women and children. GAIN fights malnutrition in Mozambique through innovative and sustainable models that increase access to affordable nutritious foods among communities vulnerable to malnutrition. The GAIN Marketplace for Nutritious Foods (‘Marketplace’) is knowledge, networking and financing platform for local enterprises to improve the market availability of nutritious foods. It facilitates partnerships and knowledge sharing across the agriculture value chain and catalyzes innovations to improve the diets of ordinary Mozambicans
Duties
- Managing project staff and consultants schedules, work load, deliverables and keeping team
communication with each other and other teams
- Implement and oversee the implementation of the project’s main activities—Innovation Accelerator
- Community of Practice, Technical Advisory Committee meetings, etc
- Fulfill primary project management, reporting technical and financial documentation responsibilities for
all GAIN, donor and Government of Mozambique requirements
- Act as point of contact between GAIN and Marketplace Grantees (agribusinesses)
- Create Terms of Reference, Granting Agreements, Terms Sheets, in accordance with GAIN requirements
- Ensure quality of business planning and technical assistance delivered to Marketplace grantees
- Prepare documents for and liaise with the Marketplace Investment Committee (MIC)
- Effectively manage performance of sub-contractors and technical consultants. Manage and Report on the program progress, budget, and management of the funds, with support from direct supervisor
- Ensure project meets targets in terms of impact and resource management
- Visits the field regularly to ensure that project progress is on track and risk mitigation plan is up to date
- Coordinate M&E Activities with MLR team
- Represent GAIN where required
- Support other GAIN programs as required GAIN Mozambique country team
- Agriculture-Nutrition initiative team and Marketplace projects in other countries
- Portfolio Management and Delivery team in GAIN HQ
- Innovation Accelerator candidates, grantees, and Community of Practice members
- MLR team in GAIN HQ
Requisites
- Proven project management capabilities
- Proven ability to manage consultants and subcontractors
- Experience in agriculture or business, with agribusiness experience preferred
- Proven ability to manage donor-funded development projects
- Proven ability to manage donor relations, particularly with USAID
- Proven ability to manage a team
- Strong inter-personal skills and the ability to work with agribusiness managers from a variety of backgrounds (Mozambican and international)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- High level of professionalism and integrity
- Clear and systematic thinking that demonstrates good judgment, expert problem solving, and creativity
- Computer literacy with good Excel, MS Word, Outlook, and Power Point skills
- Solid professional experience particularly in project management
- Demonstrated success in building and managing multi-disciplinary teams in challenging program environments
- Proven business acumen
- Strong understanding of agribusiness in Mozambique
- Experience of delivering donor-funded programs highly desirable
- Experience in a global, multicultural organization is highly desirable
- Experience working in a public/private partnership environment highly desirable
- Private Sector experience highly desirable
- A BA in business administration, or a suitable equivalent is required
- Fluent written and verbal English and Portuguese
- A willingness and ability to travel in rural Mozambique
- Right to work in Mozambique
