DFID is recruiting a Project Officer, to be in based Maputo.
Duties
- Manage and maintain good working relationships with government partners and other donors; attend partner meetings
- Lead on effective closure of all projects with support from the Deputy Programme manager
- Providing appropriate assistance on ensuring corporate compliance for all individual programmes
- Support the annual reviews and completion process in line with DFID compliance and map out activities to ensure a timely submissions
- Effectively operate management systems to manage projects, monitor progress and risks, mitigate fraud and corruption and evaluate and report results
- Promote the implementation of Smart Rules and ensure team is kept up to date with relevant corporate and financial developments on projects, including payments, reporting and corporate compliance
- Operate finance systems accurately and on time, meeting forecasts, targets and deadlines and ensure that DFID money is spent effectively, efficiently and economically
- Ensure effective budget forecasting and reprofiling throughout the life of programmes
- Support the Deputy Programme Manager to proactively and effectively manage contracts and relationships with implementation agents and technical providers
- Attend and actively participate in team meetings ensuring that relevant programme are discussed and addressed
- Collate best practice in project post-closing activities to be shared across teams
- Support others in the team to achieve their goals and communicating with them
- Draft quality correspondence and documents including letters, minutes and reports
- Learn and demonstrate the behaviours and skills described in the Civil Service Competency framework

Requisites
- Knowledge and understanding of international aid and managing development programmes and projects
- At least 3 years’ experience which could have been gained from work with a donor, private sector, government and/or NGO
- Good practical knowledge of the main responsibilities of the job
- Proven track record in financial management
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to take initiative and work with limited supervision
- Graduate qualification in development or a social science discipline
- Fluent Portuguese and English
- Citizenship or an existing legal right to live and work in Mozambique
