Description
- The U.S. Mission in Maputo/Mozambique is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Public Health Specialist (Data Manager Advisor) within the office of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
Duties
- The incumbent serves as a key health data science advisor and CDC contact for data management strategies for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), malaria, tuberculosis (TB) and sexually transmitted infection (STI) programs, and other public health program activities, which entails overseeing development and implementation of digital solutions for improving the functionality and use of public health databases across multiple environments; accessing data across a diverse data tier; ensuring the implementation of data privacy and security; archiving data in accordance with retention schedules and compliance requirements; and ensuring best practices for documentation are implemented
- Additional core responsibilities include management of complex datasets, curation of GIS reference and project data, and creation of data models used for optimization of HIV/AIDS activities. The job holder provides advice, guidance, direction and coordination to the Government of Mozambique, including the Ministry of Health (MISAU) and National Institute of Health (INS), and other collaborating organizations in the implementation and strengthening of data management activities supported by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) specifically, and President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) in Mozambique
