Johanniter International Assistance is recruiting a Radio Operator (m/f), to be based in Pemba, Mozambique.
Description
- Overall job purpose: The responsibility of the Radio Operator is to ensure daily vehicle movement monitoring of JIA staff within the particular JIA field mission, following up on the implementation of the movement SOPs and providing operational support to the Security Officer/Logistics Officer
Duties
- Safety and Security Management:
- Actively supporting Johanniter's values and shaping the work of the
mission security team in line with these values
- Support the implementation of the country's security strategy in
line with Johanniter's overall strategy
- Communication:
- Communication/monitoring of daily movements, making radio
contacts with the baseline and producing a daily radio protocol
report
- Ensure daily management of telecommunication equipment
- Ensure correct and complete charging of VHF, HF, satellite phones,
cameras and GPS batteries
- Participate in the installation and maintenance of
telecommunication equipment on the bases
- Ensures the implementation of communication SOPs during the
movement and follows up on the implementation of the developed
movement plan
- Record messages in the radio logbook
- If necessary, act as a relay between the bases and/or the teams
- Monitor the position of teams in the field and when travelling in
town
- Personnel and Training:
- Training teams in the use of equipment and communication
procedures (cell call, scanning, radio alphabet)
- Safeguarding:
- Contributes actively to the implementation of the JIA Code of Conduct
Requisites
- 2 years’ experience in safety and security or logistics with a private,
governmental, or non-governmental organization
- Proactive and anticipation working style; effective in dealing with
ambivalent situations
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including
the ability to work with staff from diverse backgrounds and cultures
- Excellent reporting skills
- Excellent Team Player
- Willingness to work irregular hours, work on weekends
- Solid knowledge of standard communication devices like mobile
phones, radios, satellite phones, GIS applications and IT literate
- Fluent in local languages and working proficiency in English are
mandatory
- Have a good sense of order and organisation
- Able to establish a good network of contacts
- Able to work independently and build an argument
- Good organisational skills and especially the ability to prioritize
tasks
- Friendly, frank, open and honest
