The purpose of this position is to manage the maintenance and repair of multiple project fleets consisting of heavy earth moving equipment, mining production and support equipment (shovels excavators haul trucks drills dozers, wheel loaders heavy and light vehicles etc), general construction equipment (back hoe, crane, fork lifts aerial work platforms) that AMECO provides all over Africa some times in most remote locations.
This position typically reports to the Regional Operations Manager. This position receives operational direction only, and is directly or indirectly responsible for all members and results of the department.
Duties
- Manages the Maintenance Department activities via the Service Supervisors to ensure quality, safety and productivity goals are met
- Develop maintenance requirement estimates for fleet proposals including staffing, equipment, tools facilities, parts and material requirement
- Interview maintenance technicians and management personal to determine skills knowledge experiences and make selections for the project maintenance origination
- Develops quotes, monitors billings, accounts receivables and open work order management
- Monitors equipment shipping/receiving, monthly inventory cycle, and inventory reconciliation
- Assist in intra company repair concerns and third party back charges
- Inspect mining construction industrial equipment and light and heavy vehicles condition and specifications for fit for purpose at the beginning and end of projects
- Analyze work practices to improve equipment production thru improved maintenance, utilization and all aspects of the Maintenance organization
- Assists in investigations regarding equipment performance and operator error when accidents or near misses occur
- Maintains and promotes good member relations by consistently applying HR, Safety and Quality policies and procedures ensuring directly or indirectly that al Service Department members are trained and developed
- Source, hire, and facilitate training of necessary mechanic staff in target locations within SSA
- Manage maintenance component within region
- Inspect equipment both upon purchase as well as in mobilization and demobilization
- Assist in estimating process including staffing plan development, support equipment development, and associated cost input
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with clients at all levels of the "food chain"
- Interface with suppliers for purchase and support
- Assist in mobilization/demobilization of projects including the execution of items addressed in item 4 above
- Willing to travel and live in remote Man Camps
Requisites
- Bilingual Portuguese/ English
- College degree preferred
- High School education or equivalent minimum
- Tech school diploma/certificate or equivalent, covering equipment and vehicle hydraulic, electrical, engines, power train operation
- Maintenance Leadership and business courses required
- Training in equipment design, operation and repair provided by manufacturers of mining, earthmoving and construction equipment & vehicles
- Minimum 10 + years direct experience in mobile equipment maintenance & repair
- Moderate efficiency in computer software skills
- Analyze reports to determine trends within the Maintenance Departments develop solutions and successfully implement them
- Extremely skilled in equipment functionality and diagnostics
- Knowledgeable of Service and Accounting systems and warranty administration
- Ability to effectively supervise and improve work processes
- Must be authorized to work in the country where the position is located
