Safety Officer

Denys is recruiting a Safety Officer, to be based in Moamba-Maputo, Mozambique.

Duties

• Support the development of HSE policies and programs
• Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures
• Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using protective equipment)
• Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances etc
• Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy
• Record and investigate incidents to determine causes

Requisites

• Familiarity with basic HSE requirements
• Good oral and communication skills
• Good management and supervisory skills
• Technical competence
• Strong numeracy and IT skills
• Excellent communication and team working skills
• Attention to detail, combined with the ability to oversee large projects
• A creative approach to problem-solving
• Formal Health/safety qualification is required
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in construction project
• Experience in Risk Assessment
• Experience in writing reports
• Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics
• First aid level 1 is advantage
• Good level in English (reading/speaking/writing is required)
