Science Tech Trainer (Chemistry)

The Peace Corps are recruiting a Science Tech Trainer (Chemistry) to be based in Namaacha.

Background

Peace Corps (PC) is an independent US Government agency which collaborates with the Mozambican Ministry of Education to provide volunteer teachers of English, Chemistry Biology, Mathematics and Physics to Secondary and Technical Schools.

Prior to their placement in Maputo, Gaza, Inhambane, Sofala, Manica, Tete, Nampula, Cabo Delgado and Niassa provinces, at secondary schools, PC Trainees participate in a 10 week training program to provide them with basis for their 2 years of service in Mozambique.

The training program (PST) consists of Portuguese Language, Mozambican cultures, teacher training and model school, orientation to health/safety issues in Mozambique, community integration and development, and living with Mozambican host families.

Requisites

• Understanding the socio-historical context of the Mozambican educational system
• Knowledge of Ministry of Education and Provincial/District Systems and Structures
• Knowledge of PC/Mozambique educational philosophy and support systems
• Prior experience working with Americans and/or experience living abroad
