Project HOPE is recruiting a Senior Malaria Technical Advisor, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Duties
- Contribute to the strategy for an oversee the implementation of the project’s activities including malaria in pregnancy, case management, and health systems strengthening
- Provide general technical and leadership support to national agencies in malaria case management, including developing case management tools and participating in technical working groups
- Support direct reports to implement training programs for the public and private sector in quality malaria case management
- Collaborate with national, province, and local agency staff to strengthen quality improvement and supervision systems for malaria interventions
- Promote the use of indicators to monitor compliance with the project's activities including malaria in pregnancy, case management, and health systems strengthening
- Oversee supportive supervision of trained facility and community health workers
- Contribute to work plan development and project reporting
- Work with M&E Director to monitor and evaluate the progress and impact of activities and guide operational research studies
- Document project results and impacts in various forms, including media stories, lessons learned, case studies, etc
- Supervise direct reports with particular focus on their key tasks and the quality of project deliverables
Requisites
- Advanced degree in Health, Epidemiology, Social Science or relevant field
- Minimum of six years’ experience in various aspects of malaria prevention and control
- Experience designing, implementing and managing complex health projects
- Demonstrated management expertise
- Experience working with partners to develop successful strategies for malaria control and interventions
- Previous experience with USAID a plus
- Superior communication, supervision and management skills and experience are required
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Portuguese
