PSI is recruiting a Strategic Coordination & Advocacy Advisor, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Duties
- Oversee cooperation and coordination with MISAU, NGO and private sector partners, as well as, representation of PSI interventions
- Ensure alignment between PSI programming and national health strategies across a range of national health priorities, including sexual reproductive health, HIV, malaria, nutrition, and WASH
- Oversee compliance with global and national medical standards and practices
- Advocate for a “Total Market Approach” towards increasing engagement of the public and private sectors to strengthen health systems and outcomes
- Leverage PSI global and national resources to contribute towards national policy
- Assist the development clinical systems & protocols throughout PSI programs
- Provide clinical training, capacity building, and mentorship to PSI staff, staff and partners
- Organize, prepare, and coordinate PSI’s participation in external meetings
- Monitor, coordinate, and track PSI’s participation in all regular external meetings
- Subscribe to and monitor mailing lists of all relevant partner organizations and working groups
- Document the outcome of meetings and keep track of and/or obtain minutes
- Co-develop strategies and define outcomes for PSI’s participation in groups
- Track changes to policy and events of government, public, and civic affairs
- Support Country Representative in external communications as needed
- Serve as the organization’s point of contact for press inquiries
- Develop and lead advocacy agenda as well as press guidelines
- Communicate with Washington DC as needed on press-related issues
- Help with other press liaison activities as needed
Requisites
- Medical or Public Health degree, clinical background or equivalent experience
- Five years demonstrated staff management and public health project oversight experience
- Preferred technical expertise in the area of public health policy and programs
- Familiarity with international health, Government of Mozambique, MISAU development issues and the international donor community
- Ability to work effectively in partnership with a variety of audiences and organizations
- Excellent writing, presentation and interpersonal communication skills preferred
- Works well independently and in teams
- Well organized, strong attention to detail, and ability to multitask
- Fluency or strong working knowledge of oral and written Portuguese and English
