Duties
Incumbent serves as a Telephone and Radio field technician in the Technical Communications Section for the U.S. Mission in Mozambique and is directly responsible for the daily operations, maintenance, installation, inventory of unclassified Telephone and Radio equipment.
Requisites
- Secondary schooling is required
- Two to three years of prior technical work experience operating, installing, troubleshooting and repairing UHF/VHF handhelds, mobiles, and base station radios; repeaters, duplexors, amplifiers, and antennas is required
- Basic understanding of electric power systems and radio wave theory is required
- Level III English (good working knowledge) is required. Level III Portuguese (good working knowledge) is required
- Working knowledge of basic telephone and radio practices, procedures, processes and professional dealing with all mission employees is required
- Local driver’s license and familiarity with local traffic laws and area traffic patterns is required
- Ability to interact with local government officials and commercial telecommunications contacts is required
- Ability to type a minimum of 25 words per minute, to work outdoors and indoors and to work in extreme environments to include: elevations (rooftops/towers), heat and humidity, dusty environments, and indoors with or without air conditioned rooms is required
