PSI is recruiting a Technical Director, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Description
- Reporting to the Country Representative, the Technical Director leads PSI’s strategic partnerships, including with the Ministry of Health, UN, NGOs, civil society, and private sector. The applicant will ensure PSI’s programs are aligned with national health strategies and responsive to national priorities. While also ensuring that PSI is actively contributing to the formulation and development of National Health Strategies
Duties
- Ensure strategic alignment and linkages between MISAU and PSI priorities to maximize PSI’s contribution to the national health market
- Represent and communicate the role of social marketing and a ‘Total Market Approach’ to build robust, sustainable markets, which improve Mozambican’s access to life saving products and services
- Proactively identify and foster areas of collaboration between MISAU, PSI and other partners
- Lead the design and negotiation for new projects and activities, including: performance-based incentive programs, innovative approaches towards human resources training & supervision
- Facilitate knowledge sharing, the exchange of information, skills technology and data between PSI and MISAU, as well as, other partners
- Develop and manage partnerships and productive relationships between PSI, MISAU, donors, UN agencies, NGOs and civil society organizations
- Advocate for the introduction of innovative programs and services to ensure alignment and compliance with the national legislation and policies
- Collaborate and share experiences with partner NGOs
- Orient PSI staff in the use of MOH Guidelines and Protocols in the programs implementation
- Ensure that directors and chief medical officers of the health sector understand and support the models of clinical services and other health initiatives implemented by PSI
- Coordinate the planning and implementation of activities related to access to various health services with MISAU, DPS and other partners
- Provide technical support to programmatic and clinical staff in the implementation of regulations, protocols, standards and guidelines for health services
- Work closely with other departmental managers to ensure the effective implementation and coordination of activities, as well as monitoring progress towards meeting the objectives and results of ISP programs
Requisites
- Medical Doctor, Master's Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or related fields
- A minimum of fifteen (15) years’ work experience in public health, preferably in reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, sanitation and/or Malaria
- Have demonstrated experience in managing strategic partnerships
- Have demonstrated knowledge of the National Health system and policies
- Excellent knowledge of donor and Government approaches and regulations
- Outstanding English-language skills, both spoken and written
- Well organized, strong attention to detail, and ability to multitask
- Be able to work both independently and in a team
