PSI is recruiting a Technical Director – SRH/MNCH, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Description
- PSI is seeking a Technical Director to lead the technical design and implementation of initiatives aimed at promoting innovative SRH interventions including in MNCH and focusing on self-care such as self-injection of Depot Medroxyprogesterone Acetate – Subcutaneous (DMPA-SC), HPV self-testing, HIV self-testing and other relevant self-care SRH/MNCH interventions in Mozambique. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public health, service delivery, and capacity building, with a specific emphasis on self-injection practices. This role requires demonstrated experience in engaging with government health ministries to influence policy and regulations surrounding SRH and self-care products. This position is contingent upon funding approval
- The incumbent will work in close collaboration with the Global Team and the SBC and Evidence departments at PSI Mozambique, to lead technical implementation throughout the project. More specifically, he/she will:
Duties
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the technical activities and strategy by leading and introducing innovative technical approaches
- Facilitate senior-level dialogue with the national and sub-national governments, donors, professional associations and partners, to ensure that project insights are elevated to influence policy. This includes supporting advocacy efforts at national and sub-national levels to shift policy on the integration of self-care and regular active participation in MoH relevant technical working groups
- Provide technical leadership and/or training to build the capacity of project staff and partners. Build strategic relationships with relevant external stakeholders through technical assistance and capacity building to effectively deliver desired project results
- Report regularly on program activities, including documenting key learnings and guidelines. Prepare and submit timely project technical reports for management and donors' decision- making process. Synthesize lessons learnt documentation and dissemination of best practices
- Lead the regular use of qualitative insights, program data and research to identify gaps, and make adaptations and scale-up where possible
- Develop, manage, and coordinate a team that includes members from different departments and/or based in different parts of the country
Requisites
- Medical Doctor (MD)
- Master’s Degree (or international equivalent) MSc, MPH, MBA, MHA, MPA or medical specialty
- At least 10 years related work experience in public health or related field with extensive experience working and engaging with the Ministry of Health
- At least 5 years of demonstrated experience and in-depth technical knowledge in SRH/MNCH; a significant focus on self-care and service delivery is preferred
- Creative thinker with ability to lead technical approach
- Ability to provide technical assistance to project staff and external stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical and quick problem-solving skills
- Excellent diplomatic skills and proven ability to work effectively with government officials, partners, donors, and stakeholders at high levels
- Experience working with government entities and staff to strengthen the health system
- Ability to monitor and assess the performance of self, other individuals, and/or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action
- Strong leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate and work across teams and roles. Ability to persuade and motivate people and teams
- Strong written and oral communication skills. Portuguese and English required
- Must have the legal right to work in Mozambique
