Technical Specialist Economic Strengthening (m/f)

Description

• World Education Inc/Bantwana (WEI/B) seeks to recruit a Technical Specialist Economic Strengthening (TSES) based in Chimoio, Manica Province. The TSES will work directly with ANDA, a local organization leading the Chenguetai Wana (Care for Children) project-- a USAID-funded Orphan & Vulnerable Children (OVC) project in Manica Province. S/he will be responsible to coordinate technical support and enhance the project team’s capacity to effectively implement and monitor evidence-based household economic strengthening (HES) activities across 7 project districts in Manica province. The TSES will actively promote a shared vision of quality assurance, translating OVC and DREAMS program HES plans into activities, outputs, and outcomes that support vulnerable children, adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) and their families to be resilient and thrive

Duties

• Work with WEI/B’s core Capacity Development Team members and ANDA’s implementation team to:
• Coordinate with project team and provide technical support in OVC household economic strengthening programing
• Building the capacity of project team to manage and support livelihood interventions and roll out evidence-based HES models
• Spearhead, in partnership with ANDA staff, the implementation and documentation of a holistic economic empowerment model for AGYW in Chimoio
• Create linkages with both the private and public sector for livelihood opportunities for OVC and AGYW
• Liase with the project’s M&E team and support in developing, disseminating and orienting staff on livelihood program management and monitoring tools.
• Keep abreast of and routinely analyze and monitor trends, opportunities and challenges, and emerging best practices in market linkages and economic strengthening for vulnerable households and AGYW
• Maintain good relations with relevant government ministries, technical partners and other stakeholders, and represent WEI/B at various forums/stakeholders’ meetings within Chimoio
• Contribute to the documentation of project activities and achievements related to economic strengthening

Requisites

• Advanced degree in Social Sciences, Economics, international development, community development, or related field
• Additional training in income generation/entrepreneurship, gender mainstreaming, or micro-finance is an added advantage
• At least five years’ experience in working with vulnerable young people in economic strengthening initiatives in a technical, advisory or capacity development support role with a national or international NGO, in areas such as small-scale crop and livestock production, value-chain development, business development, entrepreneurship, financial services
• Past experience in leveraging private public partnerships is preferred
• In-depth knowledge of positive youth development, adult education approaches, and workforce development
• Ability to work independently, take initiative and leadership
• Excellent communication, training and mentoring skills
• Ability to travel within Manica Province
• Strong English language (oral and written) communication skills required
