US Embassy is recruiting a Telephone Technician Assistant, to be based in Maputo.
Duties
- This position serves as a Telephone and Radio field technician in the Technical Communications Section for the U.S. Mission in Mozambique. The Telephone and Radio field technician (T&R Tech) is directly responsible for the daily operations, maintenance, installation and inventory of unclassified Telephone and Radio equipment
- He will also work with Cable TV, Satellite TV, and personal internet equipment and services and will report to the Technical Communication Supervisor (TCS) with oversight by the Information Management Officer (IMO) and Specialist (IMS)
Requisites
- Completion of secondary school is required
- Two to three years of Technician work experience operating, installing, troubleshooting and repairing UHF/VHF Handhelds, mobiles, and base station radios; repeaters, duplexors, amplifiers, and antennas is required. Basic understanding of electric power systems and radio wave theory is required
- Level III (good working knowledge) written/spoken English is required. Level III (good working knowledge) written/spoken Portuguese is required
- A thorough knowledge of Department of State Telephone and Radio practices, procedures and process is required. A good knowledge of the organization, functions, personnel and practices of the U.S. Embassy’s mission in Mozambique is required. Ability to deal with all Mission employees is required
- A valid driver’s license and three current and continuous years of safe driving experience is required. Three years with basic field testing, troubleshooting, installation and repair equipment, tools, techniques and methods for standard analogue and digital telephone circuits, UHF/VHF Radio, Cable and Satellite TV is required. At least 18 months experience with Microsoft Office, email usage, Internet Explorer and general web and computer usage is required
