Duties
- Plans and directs accounting activities within the Finance department by performing the following duties, personally or through subordinate supervisors
- Assists in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to transactional accounting, including cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll functions
- Manages accounting functions including maintenance of accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll; ensures accuracy and timeliness
- Contributes to the preparation of various financial statements and reports
- Directs the setting up and maintenance of accounting records to show receipts and expenditures
- Directs the maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll
- Directs and participates in business cost analyses and reporting
- Have an uncompromising approach to the three-way matching process in accounts payable
- Establish and monitor KPIs for accounts receivable and accounts payable
- Ensure all individual supplier contracts are adhered to for payments of accounts and maintenance of vendor accounts
- Oversee and support Payroll execution and INSS calculations and payments
- Directs internal audits involving a review of transactional accounting and administrative controls
- Establishes system controls for new financial systems and processes and develops procedures to improve existing systems and processes
- Coordinates preparation of external audit materials and contributes to financial reporting
- Reviews financial statements with management personnel
- Contributes to the management of accounts receivable and accounts payable taxation related matters and legal obligations regarding tax and ensuring we are tax compliant, meeting deadlines and ensuring reporting is accurate
- Oversee and manage reconciliations of petty cash and bank accounts
- Directs the installation and maintenance of new transactional accounting procedures and controls as required
- Analyze financial performance against key business metrics and document pertinent financial highlights that will enable management to determine progress against budgets
- Identify, investigate, and analyze potential operational improvement. As appropriate, based on findings make a proposal for operational changes (policy, procedures, processes, etc.)
- Ensuring compliance with applicable laws and procedures
- Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and cash
- Manages the performance of the team on a daily basis and ensures they are working to plan
- Contributes to the weekly/monthly reporting process
- Manage monthly close procedures as they relate to transactional accounts
- Other projects as assigned
Requisites
- Strong analytical and accounting skills
- Strong judgment skills to review the Trial Balance
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in Portuguese and English
- Exceptional ability to build and maintain credible work relationships
- Sound computer proficiency and experience across Microsoft Office (strongly in Excel and Word)
- Able to work with ERP Financial Software (PRONTO)
- Knowledge of Statutory accounting principles
- Master’s degree in financial accounting or equivalent
- Certified by OCAM or other relevant Certification
- High Experience in General Tax Obligation (IRPS, IRPC, VAT, INSS, etc.)
- Knowledge of payroll processing
- Experience on cost allocation as WBS elements
- Four to six years progressively responsible experience in the mining industry
