The U.S. Embassy is recruiting one Youth and Communication Intern (m/f), to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Description
- The interns should support USAID in identifying and meeting with representatives of youth organizations, networks, and associations to gather input into USAID activities geared towards youth and development
- All qualified Mozambican students at a university in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region who meet the education requirements below
- Work hours: Part-time; 20 hours/week
- Salary: Unpaid Internship
- Length of hire: January 17, 2022 – July 15, 2022 (6 months)
Duties
- Advise the Mission on challenges and opportunities facing youth engagement in civil society, health, agriculture, and education related programming
- Design and implement a youth mapping exercise for existing USAID/Mozambique programming to identify intentional and unintentional youth programming
- Support USAID to develop and implement outreach activities targeted at youth audiences
- Evaluate and provide accurate responses to social media requests from users through private messaging and liaise with technical teams for specific technical requests that require technical input for a response within USAID social media platforms
- Edit and catalog all photographs and appropriately store them on USAID Mozambique online platforms
- Design graphics/posters for use in social media, internal and external events; and
- Assist with general developing of social media content that is targeted to the Mozambican youth population
Requisites
- Language: Level 3 (Good Working Knowledge) Speaking, Reading, Writing of Portuguese is required. Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing of English is required. (This will be tested)
- Computer: Google suite (google docs, google drive, Gmail, etc.), Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Marketing, Social Science, Public Health, Economics, Business, or a related field
- Experience: One to three years of working or volunteering with youth or community-based organizations is desirable. Communications and outreach-related experience is desirable
