Summary
Miguel Aurélio Maússe, a 51-year-old Mozambican, graduated in history and specialized in anthropological studies from Universidade Eduardo Mondlane University. In 1995 obtained a Master's degree in Rural Development from the same university in 2006. Started my professional career as a researcher at the then Secretariat of State and Social Action in 1993 where I worked in the Studies and Planning Directorate. In the 1990s I conducted various researches focusing on the social and devlopmment area. In the same period, I led the process of evaluating the social impact of programs implemented by the social action sector in Mozambique. I was appointed to coordinate a technical team and later as Director of Studies and Evaluation, which was responsible not only for researching social and social problems vulnerability, but also to assess the impact of social programs implemented by the sector. I was appointed Deputy Director of Studies and Planning with responsibility for leading the analysis of social problems, the definition of intervention strategies, plans and programs, as well as assessing the impact on combating poverty and social exclusion. At the same time, I collaborated in the training of sector staff and with different higher education institutions in the areas of social studies, anthropology and scientific research methodology, having achieved the professional career of Principal Investigator. I also collaborated with some institutions and consulting companies in conducting social research. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, I was appointed adviser to the Minister for Social Policies with the responsibility of advising on the definition of social policies, social assistance and social protection. I was later appointed National Director of Social Action, with responsibilities for coordinating the implementation of all social programs in the social and devlopmment areas.
