Summary

Clemente da Silva, researcher and GenMoz Project coordinator at CISM focused on Malaria Molecular surveillance in Mozambique through Targeted Amplicon Based Sequencing, NGS, since 2021. Clemente has extensive experience in coordinating field activities, planning, implementing and supervising teams. Due to his experience in these activities, he was recently invited by Mozambique National Malaria Control Program to coordinate the survey to evaluate the coverage and impact of mass drug administration (MDA) against malaria using Dihydroartemisinin-Piperaquine in the emergency context in Cabo Delgado province. Baseline (February 2023) and Endline (July 2023). PhD candidate (since October 2018) in Biomedical Science at Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Universidade Nova de Lisboa (IHMT / UNL), finalizing these entitled “Antimalarial Resistance in Mozambique: Characterization of molecular markers and assessment ofsusceptibility to Plasmodium falciparum”. In 2017, he has got his Master´s degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics from Faculty of Science of Lisbon University, where, his work was focused on “Characterization and expression of subtilases involved in grapevine resistance to Plasmopara viticola”. Degree in Applied Biology (February, 2015) from Eduardo Mondlane University (Mozambique) focused on evaluation of Immunological responses in rabbit immunized by Trypanosoma congolense PGP”. His work experience includes working as Invited Lecturer at the Faculty of Science of Eduardo Mondlane University, private schools teaching biology.
