Resumo
I received a bachelor’s degree in operations research and statistics from the National University of Science and Technology (Cum Laude) prior to the three years’ experience I have within research, operations, and strategy formulation. My primary responsibilities during my one-year employment as a statistician at ZIMSTAT were data collection, analysis, and report creation for the macroeconomics department's external trade and balance of payments division. Projects were overseen by our central office, so I received a lot of expertise in group management and communication. After that, I worked as a technical assistant parttime at Grid Roofing Materials, primarily as an operations assistant handling emails and making choices based on matrices showing the cost-benefit of lay-bys and customer discounts After that, I spent a year working as an operations consultant, mostly developing methods for businesses to maximize their resource utilization and output without compromising the quality of their goods or services. A great instance is a project we worked on for a company that manufactured mealie meal and gritz, which were used to produce snacks. The business was having trouble keeping up with demand, but its local suppliers were unable to provide them with the raw ingredients they needed being a victim of policies prohibiting the import of maize meal. As you can see, most of my expertise involves developing solutions for issues that data has revealed. As such, data is, in my opinion, the new essential for any business operation to run smoothly. At Matanuska, as a business analyst for the operations department, what I do daily is generate reports and compare variables to determine whether a system is under control or not so that we can find the right solutions for the issues that have been revealed.
