
Joaquim Pires has more than 17 years’ experience in the urban water supply, at Aguas de Maputo & Aguas de Mozambique Water Companies, including 4 years’ experience in Water and Sanitation Regulation Services, in Mozambique and Quebec / Canada. Operations & Maintenance Management of Urban Water Supply and Monitoring & Evaluation of Water Services (design and implementation KPI in advanced Excel) were some of key implemented roles. On water and sanitation, he has more than seven years’ experience, in Mozambique and Angola. At JAM – Joint Aid Management has worked as Wash Manager, for Angola and Mozambique, from November 2018 to October 2020. At Cowater Co, a Consultancy Co, has worked as WASH Engineer and Team Leader Deputy, from May 2011 to October 2016. In WASH Sector (JAM Co) were performed several tasks like: i) Planning and implementation of various WASH activities, ranging from rural water supply – boreholes equipped with hand pumps to solar SPS, Sanitation and Hygiene; ii) Rehabilitation of hand pumps, design and construction of Solar SWPS; iii) WASH staff training; iv) Water Committees training, including training of master – hand pump mechanics; v) Promote sustainability principles; vi) implementation and operation spare parts network, sanitation & hygiene best practices, community mobilization; etc. Joaquim Pires has also participated in Humanitarian activities In Sofala province, IDAI cyclone area. In Angola, in coordination with UNICEF, World Vision, Government Entities like Education & Health, led the implementation of several activities on WASH, Wash team consolidation, including several trainings (community mobilization for hygiene e sanitation best practices) of CBO / Schools members and district government staff; design and implementation of solar Water Schemes; Training of master hand pumps mechanics and spare parts network are under implementation in Gabela, Conda & Selles Municipalities, in Kwanza Sul province.
